For two hours on a Thursday afternoon, students at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey got to stash their pencils and paper, shut their textbooks, and forget about the stress and strain of finals week.
How did they spend those two hours? Petting and cuddling three adopted cats from Golden Oldies Cat Rescue who came to visit to help de-stress the students during their week of test-taking.
And it worked!
Students were all smiles as they visited with Beau, Deacon, and River – who each had their own private room to entertain their adoring visitors.
Beau lay on the floor and got brushed and stroked. Deacon lounged on his bed like a king, accepting all the adoration, chin, and cheek rubs that came with it. River did exactly what River likes to do: sit on laps, receive lots of petting and purr away.
Thank you to adopted moms Gail and Judith for bringing their furry “children” Beau and Deacon. Thank you to foster mom Joan who “borrowed” River from the home he was adopted into just a week prior to the visit. Thank you also to one of our amazing volunteers, John, who set up a Golden Oldies information table at MIIS.
And of course, thank you to Sasha at MIIS for organizing this second event (we visited last December as well) and all the students for being so respectful and kind to our kitties.
We look forward to being back at MIIS in December for finals week again!
