Golden Oldies Cat Rescue provides foster care for older cats whose guardians surrender them to us for adoption, or for older at-risk cats from Monterey County animal shelters. Unfortunately we are unable to provide foster care or emergency boarding for cats whose guardians need temporary shelter for their animals. However we can offer a courtesy posting for temporary foster care or emergency boarding on our website. We need the animal’s name, age, personality and a digital photo. Call 831-200-9700
Here are some resources for people who need temporary foster care or emergency boarding:
- The Monterey SPCA offers 14 days of free boarding for those who need it for their animals due to hospitalization, domestic abuse or emergency evacuation. Call 831-373-2631
- Many local veterinary clinics offer boarding for a fee.
- Animal Friends Rescue Project (AFRP) can do a courtesy posting for temporary foster care or emergency boarding on their website. They need the animal’s name, age, personality and a digital photo. Call 831-333-0722
Other suggestions include posting notices on church bulletin boards, at the Naval Postgraduate School and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (often there are students who are missing their furry friends and would love to be a temporary foster), and reaching out to friends, family and co-workers.
