Fosters are the cornerstone of what we do! Without foster homes we cannot save lives. And because we are 100% foster-based, the number of cats we are able to take in is proportional to the number of fosters we have.
Golden Oldies covers any approved medical expenses for foster cats. We try to provide our foster homes with food and cat litter, but we appreciate any help in that area; if you can provide these things it is much appreciated and will allow us to allocate our resources to other areas.
We can also provide supplies to support our fostered cats (e.g. beds, toys, crates).
We cannot attach a timeline to fostering because it is for as long as it takes us to find these cats their forever homes. Our average is about 45 days for a cat from foster to adoption. Of course, it could be shorter or longer, depending on the circumstances!
Fostering is a perfect niche for someone who cannot make a commitment to adopting but would like to have a cat in their home.
AS A FOSTER YOU ARE:
- Saving a life
- Giving your foster cat the time he or she needs to be ready for adoption
- Helping Golden Oldies learn more about the cat so they can end up in the best home possible
- Socializing the cat to a home environment and possibly getting him or her used to being around other pets and different types of people
It’s a win-win situation!
All we ask is that you provide a safe, secure and loving environment for your foster cats(s) – indoors only please — fresh food and water and a clean litter box.
We do have an application that needs to be filled out and do a home visit with all potential fosters to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone: cat and human!
Please complete the Foster Contract once you have been approved to foster a cat from Golden Oldies. Please make sure you’ve already completed the foster application and have been approved for fostering a cat before you complete this form.
