The Doors Are Open! And It’s So Cute!
At last, the doors to Buster’s Bunkhouse are open! We now have a safety net that allows us to take in cats who qualify for our program even when we do not have a foster home immediately available.
We held a small ribbon cutting ceremony on October 17—this is a very tiny space—so unfortunately, we had to limit attendees.
The Bunkhouse is named after Buster, the first cat we took into our program 7 years ago. Ellie, Buster’s mom, cut the ribbon and we toasted the Bunkhouse, our wonderful donors, Buster, and the other 160-plus cats whose lives have been saved by Golden Oldies volunteers and donors.
A heartfelt thank you to all the donors who supported this endeavor, and to our project manager Jan, and our two awesome volunteers, Alec and Bill who did the interior enhancements. And an especially BIG thank you to the family whose property the Bunkhouse sits on, for letting us use this little piece of land for this tiny way station for any cats who will need it.
You all ROCK and we could not do our work without you!
Again, a sincere thank you to all of you who have been with us every step of the way, patiently waiting for this project to be completed.
In the Bunkhouse, there is a plaque honoring Buster. There is also a board reserved for your very own personalized commemoration.
If you would like to honor or remember a special pet or person and help support Golden Oldies at the same time, you can do so by purchasing a kitty tag that will be engraved with your heart’s sentiment and hung on the board. A $100 donation (or more if you wish to give more generously) will preserve your thoughtful words. Up to FOUR lines with 15, 16, 16 and 16 characters and spaces, respectively.
