We have some sad news. Golden Oldies lost a member of its family today as we had to make the difficult decision of having 11-year-old Ruffi euthanized.
Ruffi was diagnosed with terminal cancer yesterday. His former guardian, who took in Ruffi when he was 6 weeks old, was by his side as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. We had the honor of knowing this sweet boy for less than two weeks. Ruffi came to us June 14th after his elderly guardian went into assisted living.
Ruffi had been boarding at Purrfurably Cats for almost two months after his guardian took a fall. His guardian hoped that one day he would be able to bring his best friend home. When it became clear that wasn’t going to happen, his family contacted Golden Oldies for help.
We placed Ruffi in a loving foster home. When Ruffi consistently refused to eat we took him to the vet, where a tumor was discovered under his tongue. He also had a significant amount of fluid in his lungs. No one wanted Ruffi to suffer so after consulting with his former guardian the decision was made to euthanize him. Our hearts are broken for this sweet boy who was so quick to purr — and for his former guardian, who lost his best friend of 11 years.Thank you to Donna, Kay, Joan, Brynie, Tara, and Margaret who all got involved in helping Ruffi and his guardian.
Rest In Peace, sweet Ruffi.
