We’re SO EXCITED!!
We are thrilled to announce that Golden Oldies Cat Rescue has been selected to participate in Monterey County Gives! for the sixth straight year! MCGives! is an annual year-end giving campaign for non-profits selected from throughout Monterey County.
Every year we have finished among the top 10 out of about 170 non-profit organizations for total number of donors. This year about 200 non-profits were selected to participate. The campaign runs November 10 through midnight December 31.
We are the only older cat exclusive rescue in Monterey County, and this is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Because of your generosity, the last two years we have combined to raise almost $120,000!
What better companion for a senior cat than a senior person to love them!
Our Big Idea this year is “Seniors Saving Seniors,” a program that will allow Golden Oldies to universally waive adoption fees for anyone 65 or older who adopts a cat 12 or older from us. And since the cost of veterinary care can be a major impediment to adoption for seniors, we will also cover costs associated with wellness exams, diagnostics, and emergency care.
Having a cat companion can make a person feel needed and connected. And for an older unhomed cat, finding a loving guardian can literally save its life.
Older cats risk euthanasia when they lose their homes; older humans can become lonely and depressed as they age. Our senior cats, who desperately need loving, forever homes, provide affection, company, entertainment, and a sense of responsibility and purpose for seniors. Their calmer demeanor makes them perfect matches for senior guardians.
