Susan joined Golden Oldies as a volunteer in December 2022 and immediately impressed us with her enthusiasm and positive, can-do attitude. She is now our first ever Development Director.
Susan is a true Monterey native. She was born at the old Carmel Hospital and has lived on the Peninsula almost her entire life. She was the co-owner and bookkeeper for a family-owned construction company for 25 years and was a bookkeeper for another contractor for eight years. In addition, she worked in the real estate field as an escrow secretary. Her passion for real estate extended into her personal life, where she spent time designing and remodeling houses.
Susan has always been an animal lover. From the age of ten she has owned not only cats but dogs, birds, horses, and a rabbit. She is also quite fond of walking her daughter’s service dog, a Labrador named Grady.
Photography, puzzles, and playing her electric guitar are among Susan’s hobbies. She also enjoys crafts and gardening; she has recently begun growing roses. Susan participates in Cake4Kids, an organization that provides free custom homemade birthday cakes to at-risk and underserved youth.
Susan lives in Carmel Valley with her adopted rescue cat Cody who turned 20 years old in March of 2023.
