After he retired in 2013 from a 35-year career in technical writing, John decided to spend part of his time volunteering for a cat rescue organization, fostering younger cats in his Orange County home for several years. As sometimes happens with foster moms and dads, he “foster failed” … in this case, three times.
John moved to Marina in 2020. He arrived with Keller (born in 2017) and two sisters Whoopsie and Daisy (born in 2019) in tow. All three were former foster kitties who decided they wanted to stay with John. The feeling was mutual. After arriving in Marina, it didn’t take John long to find Golden Oldies Cat Rescue. Since February 2021, John has fostered more than 20 older cats … and counting … for Golden Oldies!
John continues to make his home available as a waystation for older cats who have lost their homes and are awaiting their second chances. John also serves as the information tables lead for Golden Oldies and can be found several times a month working tables in the community from Salinas to Seaside, Marina and more.
