Alis Gumbiner has been a resident of the Monterey Peninsula since 2005. She has served as a volunteer with the Villages of Monterey Bay and Golden Oldies Cat Rescue. She is the proud companion of one cat (Clementine) and one corgi (Cora), who sometimes acts like a cat in a dog suit. Alis has volunteered for Golden Oldies since 2017 and joined the Board in November 2023.
Alis offers the following laundry list in lieu of a formal biography and in no particular order: “I am, and have been, a professional writer, college professor, financial advisor and manager, bank marketing vice president, television production executive, remodeling contractor, and academic journal editor/manager.”
A native of Southern California, Alis has been involved in the charitable foundation world for more than 30 years, having assisted her mother in establishing the Josephine S. Gumbiner Foundation (JSGF) in 1989. Alis served eight years as the foundation’s chief financial officer and became president after her mother’s death in 1997. The JSGF funds programs for women and children in the Long Beach area.
