The story of Shadow, formerly named Kong, is one of true love.
When the Monterey SPCA contacted Golden Oldies about Shadow we had no available foster homes so a plea was sent out so we could help this sweet but shy boy. A Monterey couple stepped forward and took Shadow into their home – and quickly into their hearts!
After six weeks, Shadow’s foster parents decided to adopt the then 10-year-old. That was in November 2016. The couple was moving overseas the next month and of course they took Shadow with them!
“No matter what, he’s stuck with us forever,” Shadow’s mom said. “He’s all settled into our new home. He was a champ in quarantine, sad only because he couldn’t run around and he wasn’t home with us. Once we brought him home with us he explored within a few hours. He wasn’t thrilled when the movers delivered our belongings but he settled down after several days. He loves that there are more trees just outside the new home. I think a few birds visit in the morning. Thank you so much for taking Shadow from the SPCA. I can’t imagine life without him.”
Shadow was surrendered to the SPCA because his guardian no longer had time for him and also developed allergies.
A little nervous at loud noises and shy at first with strangers, this sweetie quickly warms up and will head-butt your hand, your feet, your arm … anything within reach. It’s his way of saying “pet me!” He begins purring almost the second you start petting him.
