Sweet Sappho is a wonderful cat who has gone through a lot in her life! She is a short-haired, seven and a half year old, dilute calico, that is looking for a new home. Her name is Sappho but she responds to Kitty. Found as a stray at under a year old, she still fears sounds such as rain and thunder. She needs to be near her person during that time! She is sweet, but doesn’t yet understand how to calm down and cuddle. She enjoys being pet, but not being picked up. She has been caught on video saying “hello”! She likes cat grass but is meh about catnip. She is curious and adoring of all things food related which means she is also a bit ‘full figured’. She loves the outdoors but gets stuck in trees or spooked, so she uses an outdoor enclosure to spend time outside.
Sappho was in a shelter with other cats when she came into our lives and while she had no problems with them, she is bossy and isn’t a fan of being told what to do. No hissing, just disinterest. She loves dogs – she was heartbroken when her doggy companions passed away at 18 and 15 earlier this year. She spent weeks wandering around looking for them. She’s never encountered a “big” dog, but did well with medium and small (up to 50 pounds). I don’t believe she’d have a problem so long as they were respectful and introduced properly. She loves to sleep next to them. She likes her two litter boxes so she can do her ones and twos separately. Her owners adore her but are no longer able to provide her the life she deserves. She is microchipped and current on vaccines. Can you give her a loving home forever? Sappho lives in Monterey.
