Kera is a 10 ½-year-old long-haired girl who needs a new home. She has silky soft fur, impeccable manners, and a croaky meow.
Kera lived in an adult household with four cats and a dog for the first half of her life and used the litterbox while she lived indoors. She became an outdoor cat in June 2015. Her elderly guardian recently passed away and the house is going to be sold.
While she lived indoors, several of the other cats picked on her so she would be best in a home where she is the only animal.
Kera is currently living in a Golden Oldies foster home. She is faithfully using the litter box and enjoying being an indoor cat again.
Kera is shy and skittish at first but once you earn her trust she is sweet and loving. She needs someone who will be patient and gentle with her, and let her get used to her new human(s) and surroundings at her own pace. An adult-only home is best.
This little cat lived outdoors for five years; and probably had to hide most of the time to survive. No wonder it was her instinct to stay hidden when she suddenly found herself in the new environment of her foster home. She came out only at night when everyone was sleeping to eat and explore her new surroundings. After a few weeks, when she became convinced there were no other animals around, she began venturing out more and more to get to know her foster family.
Kera has really blossomed in foster care and is basking in all the attention she receives. You might even think she is experiencing a “second kittenhood”. She is a huge fan of catnip toys and will chase a feather wand for as long as you can stand to wiggle it. Her favorite gambit is to hide behind a chair or drapes, then suddenly burst out and taking a flying leap at the dangling feathers.
She likes to be brushed and scratched on top of her head and under her chin, and rewards you with lots of purring. She enjoys watching birds out the window, but has made no effort to try to get out the door. The indoor life agrees with her!
Kera would love to meet her forever human(s)…someone with whom she can really bond, and be each other’s faithful companion. If you are interested in partnering with a gentle, loving cat, please complete an adoption application.
All Golden Oldies cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on rabies and FVRCP vaccines, microchipped, FIV/FELV negative and have had a complete blood panel done.
